The history of Empire Fibreglass Products starts with Albert Neil Baum and his desire to build a fishing boat that was both lighter than wood and quieter than aluminum. The commercial fiberglass business was at a low when Mr. Baum and his two friends started experimenting, but before long they began to build boats commercially as the Diamond Boat Company, Inc. When the market began to change the Diamond Boat Company ceased to exist, but Mr. Baum continued in the fiberglass field by starting Empire Fibreglass Products, Inc.
